COTUIT MUSEUM
Directly behind the Dottridge Homestead is the Cotuit Museum which houses our permanent collection. The museum offers a glimpse of Cotuit’s past from the 1800s to today. Two galleries feature several exhibits including:
COTUIT’S ORIGINS
HISTORICAL HOMES
WHALING & SCHOONERS
EARLY INDUSTRIES
RESORTS & RECREATION
Some of the showcase exhibits in our collection include:
The 1916 Ford Model T Fire Truck. This was the first mechanized fire truck on the Cape.
The office of Dr. Donald Higgins. A full room exhibit re-creation of a doctor’s office complete with Dr. Higgins’ own office belongings and tools adds a familiar touch to those who grew up in Cotuit with Higgins as their family doctor.
And an actual Cotuit Skiff along with a history of our iconic catboat.
