COTUIT MUSEUM

Directly behind the Dottridge Homestead is the Cotuit Museum. It is currently undergoing construction as part of our capital campaign. The new museum will house or permanent collection which offers a glimpse of Cotuit’s past from the 1800s to today. Two galleries will feature several exhibits including:

  • COTUIT’S ORIGINS

  • HISTORICAL HOMES

  • WHALING & SCHOONERS

  • EARLY INDUSTRIES

  • RESORTS & RECREATION

Some of the showcase exhibits in our collection include:

  • The 1916 Ford Model T Fire Truck. This was the first mechanized fire truck on the Cape.

  • The office of Dr. Donald Higgins. A full room exhibit re-creation of a doctor’s office complete with Dr. Higgins’ own office belongings and tools adds a familiar touch to those who grew up in Cotuit with Higgins as their family doctor.

  • And new this year will be an actual Cotuit Skiff along with a history of our iconic catboat

A special exhibit is changed every season to exhibit a further look into Cotuit’s past.  See past exhibits here.
