COTUIT MUSEUM

Directly behind the Dottridge Homestead is the Cotuit Museum which houses our permanent collection. The museum offers a glimpse of Cotuit’s past from the 1800s to today. Two galleries feature several exhibits including:

  • COTUIT’S ORIGINS

  • HISTORICAL HOMES

  • WHALING & SCHOONERS

  • EARLY INDUSTRIES

  • RESORTS & RECREATION

Some of the showcase exhibits in our collection include:

  • The 1916 Ford Model T Fire Truck. This was the first mechanized fire truck on the Cape.

  • The office of Dr. Donald Higgins. A full room exhibit re-creation of a doctor’s office complete with Dr. Higgins’ own office belongings and tools adds a familiar touch to those who grew up in Cotuit with Higgins as their family doctor.

  • And an actual Cotuit Skiff along with a history of our iconic catboat.
